Hirai Mong now open, with sample dishes and watermelon soju

Hirai Mong is now open at 12 St. Mark's Place, at the former home of Gama. For those of you crazing watermelon soju, you're in luck...

Plus, the owners helpfully put out platters of food so you see what you'll be getting....

...I'll be checking back in, say, August to see how that shrimp is looking....

Ha! I walked by this today and noticed the "street food." Putting a glass case right on St. Marks is an act of bravery.

Ha! true, Jill. How long do you think this will last...?

I am tempted to start a pool to see when that outdoor food cabinent gets tagged or worse... (Not that I'm advocating that...just seems so tempting...)

Err... might be time for a visit at the optometrist. The "food" is plastic display food common in South East Asia.
