Michael Sean Edwards, Take Two

Three weeks ago we featured East Village photos that Michael Sean Edwards took from 1978-1985... His work has been very well received...

In a post on Flavorwire yesterday, Edwards provided a narrative to some of his photos (such as the ones below!)...He also gave insight into the technical side of his camera work...

"The film I used was Ektachrome Type B, which is balanced for artificial light, not daylight. I used an 85B filter to correct the color balance. It was a common thing in movie shooting in those days and I was a film editor for a living and had learned most of what I knew in film production."

In the comments on the Flavorwire thing. Edwards says the Sloans image in from 2nd Ave. I think it's the one that was on First Ave, the current Rite-aid. Right?

re: sloans
I was guessing i took it on 2nd Ave but I really don't remember, and I didn't keep very good notes unfortunately.
It could well be 1st Ave.
Thanks and regards,
Michael S Edwards

i was the reader who sent you the link. the photos are the east village that i see in my mind's eye. there's even one of my apt. i remember this old guy. he was like 3 feet tall and almost totally bent over. he used to cadge a dollar for soup - when there were a zillion polish/ukrainian restaurants in the nabe and soup and 2 pieces of giant challah was a dollar.

I also believe that's the Sloans on 1st and 5th, currently Rite Aid. I live across the street and remember Sloans. Great memories.
