Brazen squirrels tease hawk in Tompkins Square Park

EV Grieve reader (and food blogger) BaHa passes along this photo from Tompkins Square Park yesterday....



As she notes: "The squirrels were seriously teasing a very exasperated hawk."

Man, they're nuts! [And the crowd throws trash...]

Actually, Anon, they were not guarding a nest. That was my first thought, too, but it was pointed out to me that the squirrels were, in fact, male adolescents. I guess the squirrel version of testosterone was in play. Squirosterone?
