NYPD looking for couple in connection to a Ninth Street mugging

From the Crime Blotter in The Villager this week:

Police are seeking public assistance in locating a man and a woman wanted in connection with a Sat., Jan. 8, mugging of a woman at 5:26 a.m. in front of 608 E. Ninth St. between Avenues A and B Avenues B and C. The man grabbed the victim, 26, from behind, demanded her bag, threw her to the pavement and fled with the bag, police said. The mugger was described as a black man between ages 35 and 45, wearing a dark knit cap with white trim, a gray hooded jacket and a long coat with fur trim. His accomplice, described as a black woman, between ages 35 and 40, in a red or orange coat with a hood, a dark hat and carrying a purse, was acting as lookout, police said. yikes!!! thats my street! luckily i'm lame an in bed by 10pm every night but that is pretty scary! should that be b/w B and C by the way

Times have unbelievablychanged. That was standard operating procedure when I lived on D..Now it's newsworthy (and you actually have a resident surprised and scared....go figure)

I think we should all call on CB3 to close more bars and restaurants and replace them with second hand china stores. Quiet, dark streets are good for the neighborhood.

I am relieved this isn't business as usual like it used to be around here. I don't want a return to the good old days of violence. If you've ever been mugged and just roughed up by some thugs looking for amusement, you probably agree with me.

back in the early 80's there was Voodie and his crew One of them would steal the kicks off the guys from jersey and you would hear his laugh up and down the block
