NYC Icy opens in new Avenue A location

Last summer, NYC Icy operated out of a space on Avenue A just south of Seventh Street... they're back this summer, this time at 171 Avenue A, currently using the storefront of Keith Masco's coming-soon 24/7 diner... We'll have more on this later...

He's gonna have to prove himself on the block. he's trying to claim his territory right now and make friends. He was in and out of Hi-Fi all day and night. I do hope he does not use the back yard and i hope he knows that he will have to be a good neighbor bacause there's a lot dirt out on him. Oh and yes he should think about leaving Cienfugos and breaking up with McWater.

Ray's Candy store at 7th Street + Avenue A is the ORIGINAL seller of ices on Avenue A.

Unlike the NYC ICY carpetbaggers, Ray has been here since 1974, through good times and bad. I just had a mix of cherry and lemon for $1.00 -- the flavors are AWESOME!!

Remember that a dollar is a VOTE that helps to determine who stays in business.

VOTE FOR RAY, not for the interlopers!!

NYC Icy is great. I suppose they'll always be a sentimental place in everyones heart for Ray but come on. The flavor isn't even close.

This icy thing at 171 Ave A makes Rocky sicker than eating some rotten snake meat. This dude claims to be from the hood and care about the EV, so what does he do open an icy place to compete with Ray's just a few blocks south. These characters are the worst - they claim to be long-time EV residents who give a shit, but when push comes to shove all they want to do is make some quick cash off the new 24 hour party that is the EV. Now when Rocky leaves his den and strolls north he is greeted by a horde of yuppies, yunnies, and fratties with a Westville burger in one hand, some foie gras from the Beagle in the other - staggering out of Diablo with their belly's bustin from the all you can eat tacos and sangria. So now Rocky says to himself what is missing from this scene - ah icys! Come to Ave A and you can get it all while lining the pockets of these a-holes with your hard earned cash. Shame on you! Long live Rays!

Rocky, you're fucking retarded. I don't like that icy shit, I prefer Ray's ices, etc. - classic, normal shit - but give me a break. The dude is from the neighborhood and opened an icy spot, what is he gonna fuckin' look around to make sure there's not another similar business within 10 blocks? Fuck outta here, son.

The dude is a psycho! could give a rats ass about the community. This place comes as a result of a threat that Masco put on the Grieve where he said if he didn't get what he wanted then he was going to open up a 24 hour seven days a week arcade. he also tried to bribe people into showing up at a community board meeting to support him. The story was leaked and the whole thing back fired.
Lots a luck with the diner I hope it doesn't take business away from Odessa.

Wow, such vitriol. Does nobody remember that NYC Icy was over on Ave B for YEARS?

Look, comments from the Ave B location from 2004 -

It's like nobody here noticed them until they moved to Ave A and now they're evil incarnate. Sheesh, get over yourselves...
