And maybe no hope...

Spotted several variations of this sign in the side streets around Avenue C and Avenue D...

To those without tv/internet from Time Warner to keep them occupied while cold and dirty, keep an eye on this site:

http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/residential-home/support/alerts/hurricane-sandy.html

Click "street-level detail" on the right and you'll get a chart of the current outages and estimated repair date.

BUT

They haven't put up EV/Manhattan yet but their twitter account says Manhattan updates should appear soon.

That might be my building! We had that sign up on E 11th at B. We had NO flooding...just a slow and rude management company.

I have been calling twc for days and they wont tell me anything. I actually just spoke to someone on online chat on the support part of the website and he had so much more information. He said east village is at 80% now and will most likely be restored within 24 hours.

Does anyone know of a city agency that can pair me with folks in the neighborhood still without power? I am willing to put some people up in my apartment for free until they can return to the 21st century. I have some space currently doing nothing.

one of my fellow 14th&C-ers put up an "<-- I'm With Stupid" sign pointing up the block at the ConEd substation. LOL'd heartily while walking back to my cold, freezing apartment.

For the building that lost all their meters, this might help.

ConEd Self-Certify PDF

While we recover from the
hurricane, building owners can file a Self Certification Form directly with utilities to restore service faster.

For those of you who romance the 70s and 80s, this is what it was like.

@Lauren -- yes, I saw this sign on a building on East 11th between A and B this morning, which struck me as odd. Our power went back on Friday afternoon, so there doesn't seem to be a storm-related reason for this.

Hey Lauren, that's def our building. I thought I recognized it to.

@Gojira try GOLES! So many people without heat that they're working with: (212) 358-1231. That's so awesome of you.

Our building on 11 between B & C has a similar sign: same wording, same red felt-tip on torn-off piece of box. In our case the basement did flood and the boiler needs to be replaced. The owner seems to be attending to it (or not) himself, without involving the management company (does he find them as frustrating as we tenants do?), and "until further notice" seems to mean "until money comes in from insurance and/or FEMA."

I live on East 11th between B & C. We've been without heat and hot water since the blackout. My wife spoke to the super and he said it could be another ten days as nobody's even come to look at the problem yet...
