Joey Pepperoni brings his $1 slice to IHOP Way

Well, that Joey Pepperoni $1 sliceria went up quickly at the former AT&T store here on East 14th Street just west of Second Avenue...

And this is the second JPP in the East Village ... with the one opening on First Avenue near East 13th Street in August. And this may be a record for turning over a storefront. One day it was empty, the next day it's a fully functioning pizza place. Not bad considering it usually takes the city about 7 weeks to show up and inspect a hand sink.

Anyway. Game on.

You've been put on notice, Nicoletta!

Haha. Kidding!

But seriously — has anyone tried JPP's? (And if you answer, then I promise to never refer to it again as JPP's.) Was curious how it compared to 2 Bros. or any other $1 or $1.50 slices... Or cardboard?

[Thanks to EVG reader Tony for the tip on the opening]

HA! Good point about City inspections. But really, my exact thought as I walked past this last night, "How the fuck did they do that so quick???"

The 13th & 1st store appears to be poaching a significant number of teens who would otherwise be at Papa John's. Win.

I expect the 14th & 2nd location to likewise skim a large number of teens and hospital workers who would otherwise be at the 7-11. Again, win (plus less of those damn red triangle 7-11 slice boxes on the sidewalk.)

I don't like the font which makes me suspicious of the pizza.

i do not recommend this pizza shop, but for $1 it's edible and is not cardboard with tasteless glop.
the only other $1 pizza i find edible is on avenue a off 10th street (if it's still there)
JPP is not a destination - but if you are passing by and just want a quick, cheap pick-me-up it's ok.
gruppo it is not.

It's light years better than 2 bros.

A C rating, at best. Much better options nearby. Iggy's and Vinny Vincenz's, two REAL slices and a soda for $5.

Good point, Marty. How can they make a good $1 slice if they can't pick a decent typeface? :-)

I know the owners of joey pepperoni he uses the same ingredients on his 3 2.50 a slice stores that he does in his doller locations and the pizza is amazing for 1 buck

The Joey pepperonis on 14th and second abused the rest of the building during the constuction of their place.{2-3 weeks }They made construction noise Till midnight on many nights. They were asked nicely to stop by 10pm{after making noise since 8 am}They did not. They had no construction permits posted at time and there where no numbers to call. They use a fire escape in a small sound amplifying courtyard as a closet.{they have been sent letters by the landlord telling them to stop they did not} This court yard has many aparments affected by this noise. They are out there all hours of the day and night . They are out there 4:30 am mornings bouncing their junk on the fire-egress they use as a storage place. They installed a giant jet sized vent fan above this door.{these kinds of fans are to installed above roof line. Not aimed at peoples homes.} When there is only a nickel profit you cant spend money on doing it right. Not only does it blast noise at us even with windows closed but it makes everyone's place smell like burnt bad pizza. Any one who looked at the place where the fan was installed would not have installed it if THEIR BEDROOM/LIVING SPACE was ten 10 feet away. They dont care. Everybody gets screwed with these dollar pizza places bad jobs and Having to rent place so small you disturb neighbors to store your junk. The owner was contacted and he promised that his guys would no longer use the fire escape as storage. He lied they continue.
These places are a disaster they are finishing the ruination of NYC pizza that sbarros started with its make all the pizza in the morning and let it sit. Now its that plus do it on a 5 cents a piece margin. What do you get from this....a crappy place, selling, crappy pizza, crappy jobs and neighbors being treated like yup you guessed it Crap. Matt the owner of Joey Pepperonis and Joeseph{sell his mother for a nickel or a dime every time} Bildirici, the buildings owner are both selfish bastards that would let people die a slow death for even a small financial gain.
Dying a slow death! Thats what the crapy pizza does to your system and thats what the crappy low ball business practices of money grubbing slobs does to the world.
Mom and pop pizza joints cant survive making good pizza.
Buying things too cheaply screws much and many. Would you fly Dollar Air ways? If you must use Joey Pepperonis please asked them to stop bothering their neighbors! But i say dont go to any Joey pepperonis or any other cheaper than it should be business.

To answer the first point about the speed it was not fast.
They abused the neghbors working late for weeks. They never posted one permit . They never got inspected. They did the lowlife cheap ass thing with the facility construction. It is highly likely with the very low pay that everthing will be cheap from ingrediants to cleanliness.

Joey pepperoni continues to ignore the noise, safety and other concerns of their neighbors. Its still their fault even though They are probably getting squeezed by Yousef "Joeseph" Bildirici the lanlord who also does not care about the quiet enjoyment he is suppose to provide for tenants. Please dont buy and if you mus t eat bad food then tell them to be good neighbors
