Signs of cell phone life on Avenue C

The front of Esperanto on Avenue C and East Ninth Street is a spot for cellular service... At last look, there were 25 people making calls, texting, etc. (And there are rumors that the cell phone reception area will be applying for a beer-wine license...)

... and a few steps away. Didn't see anyone around at this hour.

This happening at the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS) on Avenue C? Does anyone know?

Yes -- I walked by the Museum yesterday, they were having a cookout and they had a tandem bike that was, I guess, powering the charger. It had turned into a small block party, basically. Don't know if they're doing it again today, though.

I've gone from no service, to random service. E 4th here. Still can't connect to any sites, but can sometimes text. So it gets better...

Is the Friday/Saturday date for power still for real? If so, I'm getting really drunk as soon as it happens.

I wouldn't count on it. We were the last neighborhood to get power back after the 2005 blackout and I'm usung that as a yard marker. Some bars are open already. I got word that HiFi will be open tonight.

Grieve, maybe you can compile a list of bars that are open? It would be a nice public service and good for the bars.

Wasn't the blackout in 2003?
