[Updated] Something is happening at 2 Bros. Pizza

The $1 sliceria at 32 St. Mark's Place is currently closed. Bill the Libertarian Anarchist passes along word that workers are tearing up the floor preparing to close the shop … this according to one of the workers doing the floor tearing up.

The 2 Bros. at 36 St. Mark's Place (with the upscale $1.50 SUPREME slice!) is open a few storefronts to the east with all the $1 slice signage.

However, one worker at No. 36 said the shop at No. 32 will reopen later this week, though he initially tried to avoid the question…

So there you have it, kind of. Closed for good or reopening Thursday! To be continued…

Updated 5:31 p.m.

The $1 2 Bros. is back open today with a new floor… so much for our info!

They're probably raising the price of a slice to $1.10 and decided they had to renovate the place, otherwise no one would pay a penny more for their crappy Dollar pizza. I should know, I've eaten it .

@Crazy Eddie

I noticed that they've been closed lately on Sundays. Don't people need to eat cheap pizza on Sundays?!

Ray's Pizza is so bad now I wouldn't feed it to a stray dog or cat, or rat.

It's like they decided "Shitty NYU kids, Bowery clubbers, and hipsters come here, so why make pizza with quality ingredients."

The pizza scene in the East Village is pretty sad. 'Want a good slice in the area? Hit Ben's Pizza at MacDougal and W.3rd Streets.

Dear Anon 8:23, I buy the shitty pizza sometimes, and in addition to poor youths, who I see there are poor and working-class adults. The "genuine," deserving-of-sympathy types you EVG cynics [might] respect. Almost no hipsters actually.
