The continued exterior transformation of the 7A space

Here's how the incoming Miss Lily's 7A Cafe was looking late afternoon yesterday.

As previously reported, the new space here on Avenue A and East Seventh Street will be a combo of Melvin's Juice Box and Miss Lily's on West Houston ... mixed with the cafe ambiance of 7A.

No word on an opening date just yet.

Previously on EV Grieve:
Some part of 7A will stay in the new 7A's name

Details emerge about what's next for former the 7A, Odessa Cafe & Bar spaces

The former 7A will apparently be called Miss Lily's 7A Cafe (27 comments)

I was one of the skeptical in the earlier Lily's thread, but I have to admit, that's real pretty.

I just hope the veggie Roti is as good as this place is looking. Or am I not supposed to mention that Jamaicans also cook vegetarian foods, not just the Rastas, and their veggie dishes are delicious. Can't wait for it to open.

My prediction audible as loud as visually.

Giovanni, did someone say to you that authentic Jamaican food cannot be vegetarian? I got called "ignorant" for mentioning last time the tradition of vegetarian (vegan actually) Jamaican cuisine. I could have stated it more clearly, but seriously, vegetarian food is as classic to Jamaican cuisine as it is to, say, Indian. Also, people need to STFU with comments like "ignorant" and "haters," it's so remedial.

Anyway this place has pretty much won me over. It's bright and cheerful (so sick of the old-timey steampunk morbid crap so many EV noobs find fascinating), it emphasizes juice over booze, they don't call themselves or the food artisanal this and curated that, and they don't put fucking bacon in everything. I'm sure they will play great music. Welcome, Lily's.
