Rag & Bone casting for an apartment with an 'old-school East Village vibe'

We spotted these flyers on East Seventh Street earlier today ... The upscale clothing boutique is looking for an apartment in these parts for a short film/commercial.

So if you have an unfurnished or lightly furnished railroad flat ... on a lower floor or in an elevator building ... with a non-working fireplace ... and "chipped white paint, weathered, worn east village vibe" ... that can accommodate a 20-25 person crew...

Thats quite a crew that had taken over 6th and 7th streets this morning for some filming, I really didn't need to breathe the fumes from the idling trucks.

Apt Renters: Better make sure your landlord is OK with it.

Apt Owners: Make sure the production company has full liability coverage in case of damages or injuries that could happen on your property.

Yeah, good luck with that. Most of those nice old apartments have been gutted and modernized for the shallow upscale crowd Rag & Bone caters to. Hoist with their own petard...

Yeah, they're looking for an apartment that no longer exists. All spacious, nice, old school charming East Village apartments have been gutted and cheaply rebuilt to incorporate 2-3 more "bedrooms" per featureless unit (ie any Westminster building).

The film crew is either going to have to settle for a modernized, luxury condo, or what used to be a studio and is now a 4-bedroom apartment that can hardly support the number of tenants residing there, let alone 20+ people from a film crew.

It's like Rag & Bone are entirely oblivious to what's going on in this neighborhood.

Oh, is that what that mess on East 7th was all about, with the supercilious, officious, arrogant AD's blocking off traffic both foot and vehicle... Well, just for that, they can't have my old-school apartment with its original shiny tin ceilings and nonworking white marble fireplace and oak kitchen built-ins. No chipped white paint and unfurnishedness, though: I go more for the 16th-century England furniture and color palette.

Dear Hippie Chick: shouldn't we EV denizens be happy that a production company FINALLY recognized the visual appeal of our neighborhood. In the 35 years I've lived down here, no one ever bothered to park their impressive caravan of production trailers etc. in front of my building, complete with clipboard carrying aspiring Spielbergs telling me when I could pass or cross the street. It's so beneficial for the local economy, with all the crew ordering their daily sustenance from local bodegas etc. Oh, wait a minute, it's all catered for them by trucks with PA license plates. My bad. Well, at least some local bars' and restaurants' bathrooms get a workout during their presence.

They took up the entire corner of 6th and A by the ConEd substation; people had go into the street to pass them. I can't believe they get away with just blocking entire sidewalks with their f****** snack station.

Good because its Halloween, if you're in costume, just help yourself to the snacks- tell them you're talent

I love to grumble as much as everyone, but having film and television crews working in the city is genuinely an ENORMOUS boon to the economy. And film/tv folks are often some of the New Yorkiest New Yorkers you can find.

That was quite a production yesterday on 6th and 7th.

They were filming scenes for the HBO miniseries Criminal Justice starring John Turturro.
