Meanwhile, on 2nd Avenue…

Near East Ninth Street outside the 13th Step … where one Santa has his own Beer Pong kit…

And so much for official SantaCon bars

Where's a cab to jump the curb when you need one?

QUICK!! Someone call Susan Stetzer -- SHE'll know what to do about this!!

After all, didn't she announce that SHE wasn't going to allow Santacon pub crawlers on the Lower East Side??????

For nothing can bring back the days of splendor in the grass of glory in the flower. We will grieve not but rather find strength in what remains behind...

For a moment I thought I had inadvertently clicked on a post from last year.

Dopes. They should have staggered just a few blocks over and lent their voices and numbers to the Millions March.

Oh wait. That would be contributing something positive. Nevermind.

Wow...and to think that the EV used to actually be cool at one time.

i had to run two errands today. total time outside of my apt about 2 hours max. in that time, which was circa 2pm, mind you, santacon participants:

- belligerently cursed me and my cabbie for not letting them ride to wherever the hell they were going, including slamming hands on the windows and car body

- pissed right in front of me and several families and new yorkers simply waiting to cross the street

- shouted belligerently and profanely in a deliberate attempt to obscure the phone call i had ducked into an alcove to try and make, including one guy's yell of "F*** YOU!!"

- made derogatory/borderline racist comments while busting through the crowd of peaceful protesters marching on sixth avenue. i guess democracy was keeping them from their next jager shot.

i couldn't help but think of Brian Van and his constant one-man battle here and on eater.com in support of SantaCon. what a fucking sham. also, 99% of these people were white kids, contrary to many claims otherwise. imagine if people of color took part in this.

so damn glad i have no obligations for the rest of the day/evening. it is a madhouse out there.

It's so creative to dress exactly the same and drink in a bar that smells like an arm pit. Good times!

VH McKenzie nails it.

Some observations FWIW: I saw santas of several ethnicities, I saw a santa trying to get into a yellow car stopped at a light - scared the hell out of the unsuspecting driver. Finally, I would take protesters and drunk asshole santas over the clusterfuck that is in and around Rockefeller Center *any day.*

So much for "scaling back this weekend's festivities" and urging drunken participants to "patronize official SantaCon venues only." It's obvious that it's grown completely out of the control of organizers, not to mention the NYPD unless Bratton wants to start showering it with the kind attention that's devoted to peaceful protests.

fun: being obnoxious and disrespectful to the residetns of this 'fun' event; participate in this 'fun' event where they have no real connections to other people aside from these events where they can be dress-up the same like others and be around people who are a reflection of them; puking because of the massive amount of alcohol they consumed because to give them the idea having a good time because their lives are so empty and boring.

Yeah, I hate anyone who has fun too.

bayou makes some good points. SantaCon has nowhere near the number of people in Midtown North. I also saw many non-white Santas. And they were much better behaved this year. If they hadn't been, there would be more pictures and videos of their misbehavior.

Anonymous 11:18, I couldn't help but think of the "punks" that used to live here, when I read your comment.

These pieces of fucking garbage. The fratty douchebags took over a backyard of a building two doors down and were loud, and I saw them pissing on the building twice. I tried to douse them with water but they were too far from my window. Sick of this shit. They need to just give this shit up next year.
