I feel very iffy about the Pommes Frites fundraiser. That business was very popular, so they should have some money, and also insurance money is surely coming as well. This is very different from fundraisers for the victims or displaced residents. I honestly think it's very inappropriate of them to fundraise "to reopen" and hope people consider donating to other causes first.
Give money to displaced residents before reopening businesses.
I agree with the comments about the "iffiness" of asking for donations to reopen Pommes Frites. It is particularly questionable given that the site they are using to raise funds is an obscure one which does not allow anyone to see how much money has been raised.
Is that really the people behind Pommes Frites? Know for sure before you donate to any fundraising page. All this said, I would donate to residents over businesses.
and am i reading correctly that they only accept US debit cards, so essentially cash?
I heard from a very reliable source that Pommes Frites was fully insured. I was surprised do see this.
Every time I walked by Pommes Frites, they had a line out the door. 7 days a week. Are you telling me they don't have resources to deal with some temporary adversity? What do you think would happen if you went in there and said, damn, my check ain't coming in until tomorrow, but I'm very hungry. Could I please have some fries? Maybe some of you had positive experiences in there. I never was willing to stand in line for fries. Just my 2 cents as always.
I hope Sylvie is found - look at that face. I feel terribly for her people.
