Slum Goddess has photos and videos in a post titled I bring you: The annual nightmare that is SANTACON ... "I dealt with being groped, being told I am a "hottie" and being high fived over and over though I kept saying get away from me, and even lifted off the ground by drunk asshole saints."

9:30 a.m.

Here is Casey Neistat's SantaCon video...

1 p.m.

Several people asked what the sidewalks/streets/shrubbery/etc./ were like this morning.

There were some signs of what had occurred...

Otherwise, it could have maybe been any other Sunday morning ...

... and Det. Dave on 7th put this together with the help of his partner, EV Arrow, outside Black Rose on Avenue A near East Seventh Street...

Think that you got this one...

1:22 p.m.

The Post reports that an off-duty EMT dressed in Santa garb was arrested at the Village Pour House on Third Avenue and East 11th Street for throwing a beer mug at a bartender. The EMT reportedly got into a fight over the bill with the bartender. She was charged with second-degree assault.

The sign outside Elsewhere Espresso on East Sixth Street made Reddit...

DAmn I just put up a bunch and a few videos but those are great! I saw a pic on Facebook of a santa with his pants down jumping up and down on a cab. Nice folks!

Santa going commando in a red union suit? Really? Way to keep it classy, dude. Didn't anyone ever tell you you're supposed to wrap your packages at Christmas - ALL of them?

Another year, another shitshow.

tv news made it sound like santacon is a bunch of nice folks having a good time and the measure of good behavior is having no arrests. norman siegel defending them said that any folks who complained were against fun. police stood by and watched drinking on the street and blocking the sidewalks.
sure it's fun to have your neighborhood inundated by a bunch of loud drunks blocking every storefront and standing on block-long lines to get into bars for more to drink. i could hear folks at 13th step from a block-and-a-half away.
i can't wait until next year.

Santa has his piss assist with him!

I'm just glad it's over until next year…but boy, do I wish they'd stay home and play cards next year. What a shitshow.

I am very grateful that I was invited to visit someone who lives outside of NYC today, which spared me 10 hours of this insanity.

Just seeing the photos posted above makes me disgusted that the East Village is allowed to be trampled this way every.single.year. - as if the full-time residents of this neighborhood are equal to zero (which I guess we are in the city's eyes).

PATHETIC LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSERS ALL OF THEM. NOT ONE BIT OF INDIVIDUALITY THERE. HOW PATHETIC.

Hat tip to the 11th Street Bar crew and patrons who spent the day wrapping donated gifts for the Salvation Army in a civilized, Santa-free zone.

Of course, there is an anti-SantaCON alternative:

Thanks Niagra. You cry about where it all has gone and claim to be an outsider when really an insider, and this, oysters/burgers and Varvatos are why we are almost extinct.

The morning after pictures look like they belong in the 1970s section, except for the difference in color density.

Why don't they just keep it in the Murray Hill/Kips Bay area?

That item about a FEMALE EMT being arrested for throwing a beer mug at a bartender: Hey, isn't that what you want when someone needs emergency help: an EMT with an anger-management problem (and perhaps with a drinking problem)? Does anyone screen the people hired as EMT's?

NY1 is reporting that the NYPD is reporting that there were no arrests or even summonses! Click me.

I dunno, early wasn't too bad but later on... Woo. Still think a 24-hour dance-a-thon at Javitts would separate the real Santa from the rest. And could raise real $ for charity. Just a thought.

The secret to having a great SantaCon is NOT wearing a costume! We did not, and did we ever have a great time!

p.s. nice video, Casey. I think we are in the background at one point!

My building was turned into a housing project. And rents start at $4,000. Some housing project, huh? In all my 40 years living in my apt, I never saw anything like it. Music so loud the building was shaking. You wouldn't hear a cannon if it went off. And the drunken bums... yelling... screaming... fighting. One guy even threatened me when I told him to lower the music. He fell down before I could hit him. I was tempted to kick him... but I figured he would loose bowel control and piss on the floor. Oh... and I'm still waiting for the police. Walpurgis Nacht. This has to stop. And it starts with our local politicians who get funded by the bar trade to keep their mouths shut.

"Local politicians who get funded by the bar trade to keep their mouths shut." Damn that massive military-industrial-Fireball Whiskey complex is a machine that just won't quit. The conspiracies are all around us.

Another year, and another non-story.

Now on to the next issue that this echo chamber can compare to Nazi Germany.

I called 911 on these fucking animals. They had a rooftop party on E 4TH ST. I watched them continuously climb from building to building (trespassing) and urinating on neighboring buildings. They were also wobbly and sitting on the edge. The cops eventually showed up and shut it down. It always starts from the Westminster building between A and B. No control.

As much as I detest Santa con, I also find the man with the red longhorns/pajamas to be very hot. Quite the hung stud indeed. Eye candy for the holidays :)

9:54am:
You are correct: no individuality. Which is awful, but doesn't bother me as much as: All Storebought.
Borrrrrrring!

Cheer up everyone, and rejoice in the fact that SantaCon is over. Sadly, pathetically, and tragically, for many of these drunkards this was the high point of their year. For this crowd, every day between now no the next SantaCon will be empty and sad, confirming the deep meaninglessness of their short crude, unoriginal lives and mind altered existences. From all the crappy store-bought costumes, massive bar tabs and loud manufactured fun of SantaCon, each year they define themselves not as creators but as crass consumers of the lowest forms of entertainment. Consuming is what they do best, and their heavy spending is really the only reason why SantaCon is allowed to still exist.

Some people have compared SantaCon to the NYC Marathon, another event where thousands get dressed up in funny outfits, take to the streets and show off. At least the marathoners don't get drunk during the race, and many of them are running for someone else, whereas all of SantaCon's participants are doing it for the one person they really care about, themselves.

For the rest of us, every day just gets better from here. It's time to go back to creating and enjoying the best 364 days of the year, and to celebrating the true meaning of Christmas; friends, family, dogs dressed up like reindeer, egg nog, Charlie Brown Chrstmas trees, volunteering at the Bowery Mission, and avoiding all those Macy's One Day Only sales.

From Casey's video:
Q: "Where are you from?"
Answers: "Queens" "Queens" "Queens" "Kentucky" "Texas" "New Jersey" "California" "Pittsburgh" "Long Island" "Queens" "Long Island"

I am soooo happy locals are enjoying this local event.

1:11 a.m., you can jingle my bells, anytime.

YUCK! This event is obviously for amateurs and should be canceled. The best pic is the sign outside a bar saying Santa is a tool and barely got into Hofstra. True!

@8:07pm: Which bar are you an owner of?

Anonymous said...

No individuality: Doc Martens and black leather jackets.
Store-bought: Doc Martens and black leather jackets.

Or "Costume Jim" Glaser. The only media that reports this shitstain with any accuracy is this blog, The Bowery Boogie blog, or the Slum Goddess blog. Any others that I have missed, please add. Besides Jim boy and Figment NYC, there has got to be others with power and money that are behind this horror. It seems that the 99% of the local media is bought off, as well as our local politicians. That letter addressed “To Whom It May Concern”? What tripe.
