Ess-A-Bagel will be opening one of these days

On the topic of bagels... we happened to walk by the incoming Ess-A-Bagel at 324-326 First Ave. at East 19th Street on Saturday. No sign of bagel life here just yet on the east side of the Avenue in the Shoppes of Stuy Town. The coming soon sign arrived last Oct. 22.

Last we read, at the Town & Village Blog, the new location would be open last month. This, according to one of the owners, Muriel Frost, who said that things were proceeding at the new space, despite having to wait for some permits and other paperwork issues.

We also heard from a well-placed tipster that Ess-A-Bagel will be opening a location in the Wall Street area.

I walked past the space with giddy anticipation for many months. But with no progress to be seen from outside the papered windows I have stopped giving a shit. I like bagels but a brother's gotta get on with life, not to mention breakfast.

I tweeted them about having green bagels on 1st avenue and they said they wouldn't go be open there for a few more months and suggested I go uptown for them this year.

Or you could just not eat green bagels, since they're rather disgusting and have eff-all to do with Irish people or our holiday.

Some bagel shops sell green bagels all year long. I think they call that green stuff mold.
