Checking in on Summer Streets

This was just before 9 a.m. on Fourth Avenue between 13th Street and 12th Street... not too crowded... more runners than cyclists at this moment...

Until 1 p.m. More details here.

I'm at Summer Streets and am happy to report that only about 100 pedestrians were either mowed down in their tracks by cyclists or scared half to death crossing the street while playing PokeMon Go. That's waydown from last year's carnage when most pedestrians were busy swiping right on Tinder.

At about 11am, 4th Ave. from 11th-12th Streets was almost entirely bike riders, with a few runners, and almost no one walking. I think the pedestrians have figured out that Summer Streets is not about walking.

It was too hot and humid yesterday for the runners, but there were plenty of cyclists. The pedestrians trying to cross were still acting like idiots, jumping in front of bikes because they could wait to cross the Avenue for their morning caramel macchiato. I saw more then a few pedestrians getting the crap scared out of them as bikes zoomed right by these clueless walking machines.

How much did this wind up costing, and how many poyholes and bad roads could've been repaired with those funds?
