Bad movie, bad actors. Patricia Arquette winning an Oscar = Hollywood desperate to prop up actresses cuz there are barely any good ones left e.g. Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams.

But it's a really good bad movie though, no? Sex drugs and rock and roll (hollywood). Brad Pitt cameo kills. Happy Michael Rappaport got a part. And there are crazy good new generation actresses out there, Amy Adams excluded imo.

American movies are so friggn' violent. Every other movie is about someone who has to kill people in order to resolve their dilemma: a mobster who has to kill all of his enemies, a bank robbing clown who kills people for fun, a CIA assassin with amnesia who is being hunted by other assassins, a gunslinging cowboy, a sniper, a serial killer, a fatal attraction stalker, zombies on a rampage, gang bangers looking for respect, rappers who just like shooting each other, slaves who kill their masters, masters who kill their slaves, soldiers trapped in a war zone who have to kill everyone to get back home, a team of husband and wife spies who have to kill each other, cyborgs sent back from the future to kill the humans who created them, aliens that hatch out of eggs and kill everything that moves, aliens who kill every human being and destroy every city because they want to steal our natural resources, dolls who come to life and kill their owners, snakes on a plane, killer dinosaurs, mummies, killer meteors and comets that will wipe out the planet. And still we wonder why we are so violent. So it's nice to see Tompkins Square Park showing such a nice wholesome Quentin Tarntino movie, something the whole family can enjoy.

I agree with Giovanni. More importantly though: Does that mean it's gonna rain tonight?

...except that despite violent movies the overall homicide rate in the U.S. has been declining for the past several decades; though different regions/parts of the country do vary. Anyway, to bring this post back to the topic: I sort of like this movie.

This movie isn't that bad and it's actually better and more compact than the turds he's been producing in the past 10 years, especially Boring Bill and the overrated Inglorious Bastards. But it's a more of a Tony Scott movie written by Quentin Tarantino, who I think whilst writing this screenplay is living out his ultimate fantasy as a former video store clerk comic reading spaz becomes a vigilante anti-hero who gets the girl. Greive makes a great observation, it does have a proto-hipster quality to it.

Other cool cameos are by James Gandolfini as an impish hitman, Dennis Hopper as the unfortunate and sicilian baiting father, and Christopher Walken as a creep again. And the honey bear bong. Also Bronson Pinochet if anyone remembers that guy from TV.

I would say I could just stay home and rent the video but that's totally impossible now. No wonder these outdoor and park film viewings are happening more frequently. Maybe if there will be vhs revival akin to the vinyl comeback (thanks Urban Outfitters, Black Flag Damaged for 25 dollars!). Maybe these hipshits, er hipsters might be useful after all.

I made a typo, I meant Walken as a creepy capo, And I can't believe I forgot Gary Oldman's wigger dreadlocked pimp and his great line

"you know what we got here, motherfuckin' Charles Bronson"

Now I gotta see it again. And you can too...\
