Snow so far

EVG correspondent Steven ventured out this morning to see what was what with the storm... as of 7:30, the gates to the Avenue A entrances to Tompkins Square Park remained closed...

... and on Second Avenue at Ninth Street...

[Updating] So far, we've heard about a handful of places being open — the Bean locations, Veselka, Mud Coffee, Ray's Candy Store and Zucker Bakery (Ninth Street between First and Avenue A), Russ & Daughters on East Houston, B Cup Cafe on Avenue B and 13th Street, Fourth Street Food Co-op, Caffe Bene on Avenue A and 13th Street, Barnyard Cheese Shop on Avenue B, Cafe C&B on Seventh Street near Avenue B, Ciao for Now on 12th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B ... I'm sure there are other places open — you can let me know in the comments...

NY1 is forecasting that the city will be hit with between 8 and 15 inches of snow.

Thanks to Steven for great photos. Even if this doesn't become the monster storm that was predicted, it is a pleasure to have these reminders of nature.

The 4th Street Food Co-op will be open by 10AM. We've got plenty of bulk goods, and lots of root veggies if you want to get roasting. Today's produce delivery has been canceled, but there's still fresh fruit to be had (heads up to Notorious: no "milk" or "bread" in stock).

We're aiming to keep our regular hours; TBD as the day goes on. You can call before you head over: 212.674.3623

S(n)O(w) disappointed. I can't believe we didn't get the storm all the weather center models based on Science promised us. Hacking the election is peanuts for a hostile government that can obviously hack our weather (and which owns our president).

Weak and failing snowstorm. Sad!

@12:30pm

Please take your fundamental misunderstanding of science over to Breitbart where that sort of thing is appreciated. Thanks!

It was raining ice this morning. Not a blizzard, but it felt like darts.

@1:37 I actually went over to Breitbart (first time for everything!) and the dim bulbs over there are saying stupid things like 'when I was young they called this 'weather'' and 'when did they start naming every gust of wind?' proving what we already knew about these regressive anti-science, anti-climate change, anti-everything except fascism Trumpeteers.
