'Perfect' way

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme died this week. He was 73.

Aside from the film credits ("The Silence of the Lambs," Melvin and Howard," "Philadelphia," "Stop Making Sense") you likely know about, he also directed this New Order video for "The Perfect Kiss," set in the band's practice studio, from 1985.

Brings back fond memories, dancing to this when they played live at some club here way back when. Thanks for posting!

I forgot about this. This is one of the greatest rock videos ever.

Stop Making Sense is a wonderful movie. There's not a lot of fancy camera work; Demme let the music do the talking. Check out Naïve Melody. David Byrne is in fine form dancing with a lamp. "Home is where I want to be, pick me up and turn me 'round." Byrne lived in the East Village once upon a time, and he reeks of it here, in the best possible way.
