Zabb City appears to have closed on 13th Street

The gate has been down in recent weeks at Zabb City, the reliable and reasonably priced Thai restaurant on 13th Street between Second Avenue and Third Avenue.

There's a note on the door about management being on holiday, with normal business hours resuming on April 28. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. The restaurant appears to be closed. The Zabb City phone number has been disconnected, and the website displays a 404 Not Found Error.

That is very sad. I haven't been there in months. I used to frequent this restaurant all the time. I spent many lunches here with close friends of mine, where we all attended The New School, down the street. Such good memories.

They had the best lunch special. Their food was always delicious and fresh. The cashew chicken, green curry, and shrimp rolls were my favorite. And the ambience was low key and quiet. This really is an indication of how nothing remains forever. :(

Low key and quiet have completely vanished from the EV, loud, drunk and Uber serviced is the new normal.

Seems many businesses do not stay for the long term. Pop ups are more economical.

Oh no! I moved to CA in 2008, but still think of Zabb City whenever I get a craving for Thai (yesterday, as a matter of fact). I would always visit them when I was back in the hood. I wonder if the Queens location is still open?

FYI, Zabb City in the EV had nothing to do with the Queens restaurant by a similar name.

I'm interested to read how many people liked this place. My work is on that block, so I walk by all the time, and it seemed to be empty most of the time. I even wondered if it was some sort of front, it was so empty. I tried it a couple of times, and maybe this was just bad luck or ordered the wrong thing, but thought the food was not very good.
