165 Avenue B is for rent — again

Back in November, the long-empty storefront at 165 Avenue B became home to a production studio for Avänt Candle, an online seller that promises "the ultimate candle experience," including the 365 Annual Candle with 720 hours-plus of burn time for $360.

It looked as if the space would become a retail outlet as well.

Not sure whatever happened to this venture. (Avänt Candle continues on online.) The storefront is empty again ... and the for rent sign arrived again last week...

As previously noted, the space between 10th Street and 11th Street has been vacant for years. A restaurant serving Cantonese-style food was in the works, but that never materialized. The last tenant was the junk-thrift shop Waldorf Hysteria more than 10 years ago.

H/T Salim!

Just won a bet! I knew the candle shop wasn't going to last long.

But I never got a chance to have the ultimate candle experience!

Me too I loved Waldorf Hysteria and the flea market - my favorite weekend browsing.

It was like a candle in the wind. Or something.

Now who could have seen that coming? Maybe if they had given away a free beer with every candle they might have made it to their 6 month anniversary before shuttering

I'm confused did the candle place ever move in? On B all the time and never noticed them. As long as it is not another bar, could care less what takes it next.

If you get another thrift shop back in, I'll shop there. Promise.

After Waldorf Hysteria, they bricked up the front shop window, and it looked like the street level floor became an apartment and not commercial space -- for years. I was surprised to see it made into a commercial space again.I saw the candle people setting up then -- poof -- there was nothing there. -
