Report: Steve Croman's post-jail plans include welcome-home party in the Greek Islands

Richard Johnson at the New York Post reported yesterday that currently incarcerated landlord Steve Croman "will celebrate his freedom next month in the Greek Islands."

An unnamed source told Johnson that Croman's wife Harriet "is planning a big welcome-home party in Greece." Another source said it was a "small family gathering." (The Croman brief by Johnson is not online.)

Last June, Croman pleaded guilty to three felonies for fraudulently refinancing loans and committing tax fraud. He was to serve up to a year in prison and pay a $5 million tax settlement, per the AG's office.

Croman is currently serving his jail sentence at the Manhattan Detention Complex, aka the Tombs, for mortgage fraud. Last October, the AG's office announced that Croman was "transferred to Rikers Island for one year jail sentence." (BoweryBoogie first reported that Croman was in the Manhattan Detention Complex.)

Public records show that Croman (in the system last October as Steven Crowman) is expected to be released on June 3 ...

Croman is simply a POS. Too bad he didn't receive more hard time. I guess money, stature, and power reign over justice :(

Absolutely shameful. That one woman in Texas got 5 years for mistakenly voting, when she was explicitly told she was allowed to, and this disgusting thug gets one year and then dives right back into his money pool. How much do you want to bet that within a week of returning from Greece he's once again buying buildings and screwing with the occupants?

He did his time, let him have a party.

I hate this scumbag. Why isn't he serving more time?

Former Attorney General Eric Schneiderman went way to easy on this guy. Now Croman is getting out of jail and Schneiderman is out of office, under criminal investigation for abusing at least four of his former girlfriends. No doubt CroMagnon and his Cronies will be partying all over the Greek Islands celebrating Schneiderman’s downfall too. The world truly is upside down and backwards.

Let's crash the party y'all!

Serving more more for Croman would be sending the wrong message to the the Real Estate of America.

Money speaks the language to his cast of cronies he pays.

The Greek immigration authorities should be notified that a convicted felon, still serving his sentence, is attempting to enter the country. Greece may have laws that prohibit entry for scumbags felons like him.

Another thought. Croman must be on parole when released. Is he permitted to leave the country when on parole?
