Somehow, illogically, I do still have hope... that the human instinct for simplicity and genuineness will eventually prevail and protect our little hood...glammanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-30819973841792205242010-03-03T15:01:52.677-05:002010-03-03T15:01:52.677-05:00I wonder if we'll even be able to recognize th...I wonder if we'll even be able to recognize the Bowery in 10 years.... The most recent people to move into the building next to mine were both wearing baggy gym shorts and flip-flops. It's hard to tell whether development will take over or fall to the curb. There are so many new glass box buildings going up, but at the same time, so many stalled construction projects. You have to look at the people moving into the neighborhoods to get an idea of the future...alas, that's not always the image you hope to see.Laura Goggin Photographyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15517481509431547970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-75718187397191385672010-03-03T09:53:06.753-05:002010-03-03T09:53:06.753-05:00i recently made it down to what used to be Chinato...i recently made it down to what used to be Chinatown, around the old police station in what used to be Little Italy. It's incredible, the gentrification that is occuring there. Nothing is left of the old hood, not even that funny corner that showed swing around art. I stopped at a cute dog store; the lady out front said "none of our dogs stay here long, we get so many celebrity adoptions." this used to be a no mans land, or at least a lazy place, not it all glitters.Ken Machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09100185198750536244noreply@blogger.com
