Anthony, who manages Pete's-A-Place, is a great guy and the people he had working for him were also great. Pete’s and the Stuyvesant Grocery, also great, both are truly missed.
My gut feeling however, is depression; I see a NYY dorm or a “luxury” condo and chains (Subways, Papa Johns, etc) as the stores.Crazy Eddienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-1397047363181187562010-11-30T19:44:08.787-05:002010-11-30T19:44:08.787-05:00lol at nygrump!!!lol at nygrump!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-39734555769478111632010-11-30T19:30:26.478-05:002010-11-30T19:30:26.478-05:00That deli can't come back fast enough if you a...That deli can't come back fast enough if you ask me. I hope they continue to have their large selection of phone cords, washers and ladies' screwdrivers featured in the window.

What is odd is that neither of the other 2 delis nearby on Ave A have figured out that they could get some of that business if they sold something other than potato chips and beer, -- like a normal selection of bread, milk and half and half. I heard the grocery store down the street near B is pretty good, but I never remember to go there.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04362859175287085919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-44351508167061424982010-11-30T12:28:57.190-05:002010-11-30T12:28:57.190-05:00Last week I spoke with the manager of Pete's-A...Last week I spoke with the manager of Pete's-A-Place (the pizza restaurant) who lives in the neighborhood. He said that the owner of the building was rebuilding, and that the owner of Pete's-A-Place was planning or hoping to re-open in October. He also said that the Permacut hair salon was not returning because she has settled in nicely and for less money at Peppino's on First Ave.

-- TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-82242381625200149872010-11-30T12:20:54.233-05:002010-11-30T12:20:54.233-05:00LUXURY HOUSING NOW! At least they've found another space on 1st Avenue and 12th St. I was also told the deli guys ARE definitely returning once the rebuilding is completed, and that's great to hear.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5694390946037511355.post-50958947247461403682010-11-30T08:08:28.502-05:002010-11-30T08:08:28.502-05:00When the fire happened, the fellows at the bodega ...When the fire happened, the fellows at the bodega across the street (on A, next to Zaragoza's) told me the owners were fully insured and would be rebuilding the store, but I'm not sure about that now.

I bought my Christmas tree there every year. :(Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
