Two bars that have been closed since mid-March are back for to-go service this weekend.

Black & White will be serving drinks (to take home!) today from the bar at 86 E. 10th St. St. between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue. Hours: 2-6 p.m.

Cherry Tavern is also back in service for the weekend, offering drinks to go from noon to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow at 441 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and First Avenue.

Meanwhile, Boris & Horton, the dog-friendly cafe on Avenue A at 12th Street, reopened their to-go window back on Monday for coffee and pastries (served only to mask-wearing customers, per their Instagram account). Open until 1 p.m. today.

As a reminder, SMØR, the Noridc cafe a few doors away on 12th Street, reopened on April 22. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Also! Van Da, the well-regarded Vietnamese restaurant on Fourth Street, is continuing its collaboration with chef Hannah Wong (of the incoming Brooklyn restaurant Haema), for a weekend takeout service.

You can find the Haema-Van Da menu, which changes each weekend, and order in advance via this form. You pick up the food at Van Da, 234 E. Fourth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B from noon to 8 p.m.

Monday's parting shot

A tribute to Tom Petty at Black & White on 10th Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue... The singer-songwriter was reportedly in grave condition following a heart attack last night at his Malibu home. (Earlier reports erroneously stated that Petty died.)

Updated 5:30 a.m.
Petty's family has confirmed his death. He was 66.

[Updated] Black & White looks to reopen early next week

The Black & White has been closed since the fire Tuesday afternoon on an upper floor here on 10th Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue.

The low-key bar, which recently recently celebrated its 17th anniversary, provided an updated via their Instagram page:

Thanks for all the well wishes. Everybody got out safely and the bar sustained little damage. We should be open sometime soon after the weekend. Check here for updates.

[UPDATED 2/14: The bar is back open tonight.]

As for the rest of No. 86... here's a look at the damage...

...the fire apparently started in the third-floor apartment...

Patch reported that emergency responders evaluated two people at the scene for injuries. There wasn't any other information about cause or the extent of the damage.

According to public records, an LLC going by Elk Mas 86 East 10th owns the building. The third-floor unit, listed at two bedrooms, was asking $5,645 a month, per Streeteasy. The space above Black & White previously housed the company behind the Governors Ball Music Festival and Wiz Kid Management.

Happy No. 17 Black & White

East 10th Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue isn't a complete lost cause. No. 86 is home to Black & White ...

...and the bar is celebrating its 17th anniversary this week with some music and a three-night celebration, as seen on the flyer below...

City of Saints is on this block too... I know several people who give their coffee high marks...
