Big Pink owner wants to meet the neighbors

Several residents have pointed out that the proprietor looking to secure a liquor license for the former Company Bar and Grill space on East 10th Street is looking to meet his potential new neighbors.

The applicant, Avi Burnbaum, has listed two different time blocks to meet at the Bean on First Avenue and East Ninth Street ... and if these don't work, he'll make arrangements for another time.

As we've previously pointed out, paperwork filed ahead of Monday's CB3/SLA committee meeting includes an extensive "good neighbor plan" to show how Big Pink will work to keep things quiet outside the establishment.

It's noteworthy because we can't recall an applicant in recent years going to such lengths to talk with residents before a CB3/SLA meeting. (Read more about the plans for the space here.)

The CB3/SLA meeting is Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Board 3 Office, 59 E. Fourth St. between Second Avenue and the Bowery.

Big Pink eyeing the Company Bar and Grill space on East 10th Street

Back in February we reported that the Company Bar and Grill was for sale at 242 E. 10th St. at First Avenue. The owner said that he was moving and needed to sell the bar that he took over in the fall of 2011.

According to paperwork (PDF!) on file ahead of this month's CB3/SLA meeting, an applicant (listed as Byron Burnbaum) is looking to take over the now-closed bar with a venture named Big Pink.

The paperwork shows proposed hours of noon-4 a.m. seven days a week with a menu featuring "new American cuisine."

There are also plans for live music — "acoustic performance only" without any cover charge.

Finally, the paperwork includes an extensive "good neighbor plan" to show how Big Pink will work to keep things quiet outside the establishment:

Hard to say if such extensive plans are supposed to make residents feel better … or worse.

The CB3/SLA meeting is June 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Board 3 Office, 59 E. Fourth St. between Second Avenue and the Bowery.

Company Bar and Grill is for sale on East 10th Street

We spotted a listing on Craigslist this week noting that Company Bar and Grill is for sale at 242 E. 10th St. at First Avenue.

Given that these ads can be bogus (see Busy Bee Bike Shop), we contacted the bar. Proprietor Shawn Rogol confirmed that Company is for sale… He is moving, and he needs to sell the business. (Asking price: $225,000.)

Rogol took the bar over in the fall of 2011 and installed a new kitchen and made the whole place less sketchy.
