Community health and wellness center coming to East 14th Street

Signage has arrived at 332 E. 14th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue... where the storefront has been under renovation...

It's E14 MedArts...

Per the sign, this will be a "state of the art boutique medical and wellness center which will cater to Stuyvesant Town residents." (Does this mean that non-Stuy Town residents can't use this place?)

The facility is billed as an alternative to an urgent care center (like that chop chop yow place up the next block) or emergency room.

The address was previously home to Danny Cycle's, which closed here at the end of 2015.

Danny's Cycles has closed on East 14th Street

As we first reported on Dec. 7, the longtime cycle shop at 332 E. 14th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue was closing this location. Employees originally said that the store would remain open through today.

However, as you can see, workers have cleaned out the shop... there's also a for rent sign up...

A sign on the door originally noted that Danny's — with a dozen locations in NYC and Connecticut — was moving to Sixth Avenue and 15th Street. However, the Chelsea location has been there for a number of years, so this is really a closure.

According to several customers of Danny's (formerly Metro Bikes), a rent increase was behind the closure.

Danny's Cycles closing East Village location

The moving sign arrived in the window Saturday at the longtime cycle shop at 332 E. 14th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue...

Per the sign, Danny's — with a dozen locations in NYC and Connecticut — is moving to Sixth Avenue and 15th Street. However, regulars count this as a closure as opposed to a move — the Chelsea location has been there for a number of years.

According to several customers of Danny's (formerly Metro Bikes), the closure/move comes as the result of a rent increase via the landlord. (ID'd as the Brusco Group, an afflilate of Westside Management Corp.)

There are also approved permits on file with the Department of Buildings to "add horizontal extension at floors 1-5" that will increase the overall square footage of No. 332.
