Taking away our Dearly Beloved

An EVG reader notes that workers this morning carted off the Prince-inspired Sing for Hope pop-up piano (titled Dearly Beloved), which had been in Tompkins Square Park since June 8.

Brooklyn-based artist Eric Inkala designed the piano, which Sing for Hope will now place in an NYC public school.

Thanks for the memories, Dearly Beloved...

Let's go crazy

The Prince-inspired Sing for Hope piano (titled Dearly Beloved) is now ready for action in Tompkins Square Park...

Brooklyn-based artist Eric Inkala designed the piano, which will be in the Park through June 19. Sing for Hope will later place the pop-up pianos from around the city in NYC public schools.

And thank you Tony...

Missing you

Just noting a tribute that arrived this week at 190 Bowery (at Spring Street) ... in memory of Prince and David Bowie, with an inscription "You will be missed" ...

The work is by @citykittystreet ...

Meanwhile, the conversion of the historic Germania Bank Building continues. Aby Rosen's RFR Realty owns the building and it's not known exactly what's going to happen to the landmarked building...

TBT — Purple Rain on Avenue A

From June 9, 2014... when Prince was featured on the roll-down gate at Mikey Likes It, 199 Avenue A near East 12th Street.

The mural, created by Bronx-based artist Andre Trenier, was in honor of the shop's Flavor of the Month: Purple Rain (double blueberry ice cream with cheesecake chunks).

And in case you haven't heard the news... Prince has died. He was 57.

Purple Rain on Avenue A

Just noting the rather awesome new roll-down gate art at Mikey Likes It, the four-week-old ice cream shop at 199 Avenue A near East 12th Street.

The Prince mural, created by Bronx-based artist Andre Trenier, is in honor of the shop's Flavor of the Month: Purple Rain (double blueberry ice cream with cheesecake chunks).

The Mikey is the owner Mike Cole, a lifelong resident of Stuy Town.
