Photos by Stacie Joy

Tats Cru created a new mural this week on Second Street at Avenue A... paying tribute to Bittman John "Bimbo" Rivas (1939-1992), who coined the term "Loisaida" in 1974...

There are also street scenes that depict these COVID-19 times...

Tats Cru getting fresh on 2nd Street

Tats Cru created a new mural today on the wall on Second Street at Avenue A... it's an ad for GrowNYC’s Healthy Exchange Project ... specifically the local Greenmarkets that accept SNAP/EBT...

There's more space reserved for the mural specialists ...

The members of Tats Cru have created several murals here in recent years, including one of Jeremy Lin... this wall has also seen at least two marriage proposals. Here and here.

Thanks to @billspector for letting us know about the new mural!

Report: TATS CRU member arrested at Ace Bar after smacking patron with beer mug

[TATS CRU mural on the side of 20 Avenue A]

Let's head to the Post:

Famed graffiti artist Davide Perre, known for his murals on city walls worldwide, was arrested this morning after allegedly hitting a man in the face with a beer mug in an East Village bar, police sources said.

Perre, 39, of Brooklyn was charged with felony assault after the victim was sent to Bellevue Hospital with blood gushing from his head.

Perre and his twin brother, Raoul — members of the famed TATS CRU from the Bronx — were at the Ace Bar on East Fifth Street when an argument erupted with two men. One of the men made comments about David’s wife and his brother’s girlfriend, and was then smacked.

'Linsanity' strikes the corner of Avenue A and Second Street

[ANIMALNewYork]

So you may have heard about the New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin ... Anyway, our friends at ANIMAL New York passed this along:

In honor of this newfound responsibility – and crushing pressure – ANIMAL commissioned TATS Cru to paint an Atlas-inspired tribute to the man of the hour.

It's up on the southeast corner, where we've been seeing some marriage proposals of late... the mural should be up for another month...
