On 9th Street, wind sends sidewalk-bridge plywood onto 2 cars below

Two cars parked on Ninth Street at First Avenue were damaged when a piece of plywood from the adjacent sidewalk bridge came crashing down during last night's thunderstorm.

EVG reader Danny shared these photos. As the top pic shows, some more debris landed just across the street. Luckily there weren't any reports of injuries, but the cars took a hit... one worse than the other...
As Danny noted, the sidewalk bridge here outside PS 122 has seemingly been up forever...

Someone/Something broke a big window at the 1st Avenue McDonald's

From last night. Over here on First Avenue at the McDonald's next to the Subway… the big window is smashed. Seems pretty recent. (Pretty sure we walked by here Wednesday night and didn't see a smashed window.)

Anyway, take a look at the hole...

Oh wait.

Seems almost too perfect too be manmade. So we're going with alien. Like, an alien laser. Anyone else care to guess what happened here?

C'mon, you guys. This is important.

Avenue A Mini Market now without part of its front window

A reader notes that someone smashed part of the front window at the now-closed Avenue A Mini Market near 10th Street....

This aside, anyone else notice an increase in smashed car windows of late? Dave on 7th noticed several the other morning on Seventh Street...
