Broadway in Bloom

A tipster tells us about a Kate Spade "Broadway in Bloom" event this morning... the brand partnered with five NYC florists to create a "visual love letter" to the city.

And we're told these bouquets of flowers will be free for the taking at 11 a.m. on Broadway at 8th Street...

Discarded flower power

You may have noticed the flowers outside the former Bar Virage on the northeast corner (we were just talking about this space) of Second Avenue and Seventh Street this morning...

This is an ongoing project via @concretegardennyc ... a collaboration between @gumshoeart and @cohreenah, who rescue discarded flowers from the trash and place them on vacant storefronts to help beautify the space ... they've previously done this on the southwest corner of the Bowery and East Houston ... and the former New York Central Art Supply on Third Avenue near 11th Street...

May flowers

The Mother's Day morning scene outside Village Farm Grocery on Second Avenue at Ninth Street (not to be confused with East Village Farm & Grocery on Second Avenue at Fourth Street) ...

And happy Mother's Day!

Thanks to Steven for the photos!

Trumpets of Summer

Trumpets of Summer

The trumpets of summer reverberated,
Whether in celebration or warning,
Its fiery presence assured,
A procession of days before us,
The fanfare of resonance fulfilled.

Valentine's night at Sunny's

Sunny's Florist, operated by Sun "Sunny" Ja Hwang and her son Edward, on Sixth Street at Second Avenue is arguably the best place to buy flowers in this or any neighborhood ... no surprise then that there is always a line on Valentine's Day or Mother's Day for quality bouquets that start at $10.

Key Food is out of flowers

Raymond and company apparently did a brisk business selling flowers Sunday in honor of Bono's birthday Mother's Day...

So if you want flowers, then maybe you can come back here on Avenue A and East Fourth Street tonight at 11...
