Tamam now open on 5th Street

Tamam, a Turkish boutique, opened last week on Fifth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue in a storefront between White Trash and So-Hair.

The owners sent us a note about their shop.

Tamam means "ok! all right! sure!" etc. in Turkish. Our shop is a boutique with handmade ceramics, tabletop, jewelry old and new, as well as ikat and hand-embroidered pillows, Turkish rugs, handmade scarves, accessories, clothing. We also have a great selection of antique and vintage textiles from Turkey, Central Asia, India and beyond.

Tamam is three partners: Clare Louise Frost, Elizabeth Hewitt of Tulu Textiles, and Hüseyin Kaplan, a noted Turkish textile and rug dealer. Tamam is all of treasures in one place, a treasure chest of all the things we love.

We are so happy to be in the East Village — we couldn't imagine opening our shop anywhere else.

They are open most days from noon to 8 p.m. through Dec. 23. (They will then be closed until the start of the New Year.) Find more info at their Instagram account here.

O.O.T.D. opens on 7th Street

Back in May we heard that a clothing boutique was opening in the former East Village Cheese shop on Seventh Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

The shop, O.O.T.D. (Outfit of the Day?), debuted this week here at 80 E. Seventh St. Don't know too much about them at the moment. O.O.T.D. has an Instagram account...

East Village Cheese closed here without any notice in early December after two-plus years at this address.

Dog day afternoon: Opening party for LoveThyBeast on 5th Street

As previously noted, a pet-accessory boutique called LoveThyBeast is coming to 300 E. Fifth St. just east of Second Avenue... there's an opening party tomorrow (Saturday) from 3-7 p.m. ... (you've been warned in case there is free wine)...

The shop is the creation of Tiziana Agnello, a former prop stylist, who started selling her homemade creations online and in several pop-up locations back in 2012.
