East Seventh Street, 5:54 p.m., Feb. 18

McSorley's celebrated its 155th (or 147th) anniversary last night. Not the horror show that I expected (police barricades, barfing in the streets, etc). Of course, it was still early. Oh, and for the record: I didn't go in...Just walking by...

  1. I was there then- a good time. As of 630, I still wasn't sure they started letting females in (I was one of maybe three, along with 150 men). Didn't see as many McSorley's newbie displays as usual--asking what was on tap, ordering one beer. There were even seats open at tables.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Jen. I did notice a few empty seats when I was peeking in.... I was thinking they were reserved or something. Anyway, it looked cozy.

My favorite newbie trick: "Don't you sell it by the pint?"
