Breaking: Lower East Side is NYC's "hottest nightlife neighborhood"

Cityfile has a report on Zagat's new nightlife survey. Some 6,000 New Yorkers were allegedly surveyed. And what did they say?:

The Lower East Side is NYC's "hottest nightlife neighborhood," while the meatpacking district was named "most over-rated/or over-hyped." As for "the growing trend of bars with master mixologists," more than half of the people surveyed said it was "an excuse to charge more for drinks."

  1. This actually means that the LES is now the "most over-rated/ or over-hyped" while the meatpacking district will probably have a nice quiet neighborhood bar scene in a few years with no one remembering what the fuss was about.

  2. I actually think there should be some sort of test to get into the LES at night. And a more difficult test to open a business there. It should be very similar to the type of questions given to people who want to work at the Strand. Ah, if only...

The LES is just a nightmare, let's face it.

  3. I'm an LES resident and I must admit Brooklyn is kicking our ass. The LES has been over for years. Brooklyn just had a new music and art festival - Northside Festival. We've got nothing going on.
