Avenue B's Monk Thrift Shop is closing
Tough times continue for thrift/vintage stores in the East Village...(though some shops, like Metropolis, seem to be doing just fine...)

I was just in this shop--the owner is nice-time to buy some really nice things before they close. Glad they have other stores. This is sad.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow this is a SERIOUS bummer. Aside from the facts that everyone who works here is really really nice, and they have interesting stuff, between this and the one on A and 10th closing, where the hell do I bring my donations? Guess it's down to 11th and C for me, at least for now. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a bummer! I LOVE this store. If you want to donate there is the other Monk store that moved from a&10th to 3rd St and 1st Ave.
ReplyDeleteBy the popular sentiments on this board, this is a perfect spot for a 7-11
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that they think MacDougal and 8th St is the WEST Village... why not just say it is in Chelsea? It's just as accurate -
ReplyDeleteI wonder if a bar will open here...
ReplyDeleteGuys! They reopened in the old Dance Track space on 3rd near 1st Ave. JUST SAYIN.
