A look back at Avenue A and Second Street

Well, we've had a lot of discussion this week about the future of Avenue A and Second Street where Graceland called home for 20-plus years... Many thanks to EV Grieve reader BaHa for this photo from the early 1980s... this is looking north on Avenue A at Second Street....

How about another upholstery shop here now instead of an Italian eatery, bank or 7-Eleven?

  1. This looks like it was taken after that major snow storm we had the winter of 1982-1983.

  4. I went to Supper the other night, mediocre at best and they rushed the plates away. Like we need another pasta mill like that.

  6. Lisa, yes, that sounds about right. About six months after I moved from my ancestral homeland, Brooklyn, to the LES.
And, thanks, Ryan. Taken with my first grown-up film camera.

  7. That was the greatest storm. I couldn't afford boots and tromp around with plastic bags strapped to spandex pants - waterproof, but not well-insulated, I fortified myself with a thermos full of brandy & coffee. Ah youf.
