A lot of comments for Village Fabrics here. The store will be missed.
Previously on EV Grieve:
The East Village continues to lose retail diversity

No!!!! Fuck. Another one bites the dust from the good ol' days..
ReplyDeleteMy heart dropped when I read this post. This closing really hurts. I grew up with the store and my 12 year old son Ben grew up with that store. Every Halloween costume was made with their fabric.
ReplyDeleteI know it's all been said before but it's hard to watch my neighborhood turn into the upper west side.
This breaks my heart!
ReplyDeleteVillage Fabrics was one of my favorite throw-back Mom & Pop's here in the EV.
So very sad.
We're sad to see them go and even sadder to think it'll probably become a bar. That block has been a real holdout. They will be missed.
ReplyDeleteI think the upper west side has more retail diversity than the East Village, even though they have many more chain stores.
