Why Casa Adela is temporarily shuttered

Here at Casa Adela on Avenue C between Fourth Street and Fifth Street....

... per the sign: "Not having the refrigerator at appropriate temperature."

I appreciate the transparency here... Some of these DOH violations can seem pretty ticky-tacky... better to let customers-neighbors-bloggers know...

Of course, I'm not sure what my counsel would be for more serious offenses.... "XYZ Restaurant will reopen as soon as we kill off the 350 rats the DOH found in the walk-in pantry!"

By the way, if you've never been Casa Adela, you should give it try when she reopens...

  1. Long live Adela's!

I go here every Monday or every other Monday. Best rotisserie chicken in NYC - perhaps America... hell the world! This is a Loisaida institution. Appreciate the health dept doing its job but Adela has been there 35+ years -they know what they are doing.

When NY Mag named it a "pick" I literally freaked out thinking it was game over. But lack of beer/wine and a homey/LES vibe keeps the crowd mostly local and the tourists out.

    Long live Adela's!

  2. Thanks for the reminder. This is one of those places I keep meaning to try, but keep forgetting until I walk by after having just ate something else. Will have to try the rotisserie chicken...
