Report: Asian Pub closed at 35 Cooper Square
BoweryBoogie has the scoop (and the photos above). The space has been cleared out, he reports. They lost their lease. You can still try to save the historic building here.
Previously on EV Grieve:
Something 28,998 square feet or so coming to Cooper Square (and goodbye Cooper 35 Asian Pub?)
Doom and doomer: More of Cooper Square primed for development
Cooper 35 Asian Pub part of development deal on Cooper Square
Cooper 35 Asian Pub putting up a fight before being torn down

ReplyDeletePeople, sign that petition to save this building!
ReplyDeleteI just signed the petition and hope others who read this do as well. It only takes about a minute out of your day and it could mean a lot.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone here have any evidence, even anecdotal, of a petition ever saving a building from the wrecking-ball since the ‘70s? I could use some inspiration. Are we fighting 21st century battles with 20th century tools? And what’s up with that sink-hole?
ReplyDeleteI'll sign the petition but I think our efforts are futile. :*-(
ReplyDeletedevelopers probably demolish it, then "realize" later that there's a sinkhole.
