Everyone loves a really bad meatball sandwich!

EV Grieve reader MP sent this along from outside JoeDough today on First Avenue near St. Mark's ...

And here's the Yelp review from February...

Probably the worst meatball sandwich (special of the day) I have had in the tri-state area in my 32 years of living here, especially for $12. In all fairness I have not had the other sandwiches but with prices like that coupled with underwhelming food and slow service this will be a skip in the future. Joe Hell No!

    anyone who pays twelve bucks for a meatball sandwich is retarded. you can get it for $5 at subway if you wait until february.

    I don't know about Subway, but $12 seem way out of line. Eight bucks at Vinny Vincenz seems fair.

    Subway is so good! i was so excited when they opened one right by my apt! i just hope a Panera opens soon. do you know that panera has artisan bread? so does dunkin donuts!

    Well I never had the Joe Dough $12 meatball, but their $10 brisket and Cubanos are kick ass. Got to give them credit for making lemonade from a sour review!

    I would rather pay $12 to eat a slab of cardboard than go to Subway. Hell it'd taste better, so why not?

    In all seriousness, I've had the meatball sub at Joe Dough. It's expensive at $12, but it was actually one of the better meatball subs I've had in awhile. Might even go get one tonight now that I know they have it again.

    yes, the brisket is good - and it's expensive.
    the attitude that goes with it makes a potential customer a former customer.

    Ever since Pete's-a-Place closed, I haven't been able to find a decent meatball sandwich anywhere in the First Avenue vicinity. Vinny Vincenz is horrible, as is Iggy's, Stromboli's and the pizza place on 9th Street's. Anybody?

    This makes me WANT to drive from N Idaho and get a sandwich from this place. Oh yeah, so would ANYONE worth their salt in the restaurant industry.

    I don't have an issue paying $12 for a sandwich, so long as it's a good one. After all, my last Subway experience cost me about the same (10+ for the sandwich only) for a mediocre, foot-long, turkey on wheat. I'll spend the extra $1.50 for a quality sub in a local shop. But, I'm not easily deterred by one individuals bad experience. :-)

    i ate the meatball and the brisket split half and half with a friend.. its not the worst, but I wouldn't go back there. Despite Joedough's better branding, I expect this place to go the way of the short-lived Question Mark Café, that was there 2-1 years ago and probably no one ever went to..
