A $4 million 'price break' for Avenue D development site

Back on May 21, The Real Deal reported that the above stretch of retail that includes a Rite Aid on Avenue D between Seventh Street and Sixth Street was on the market for $22.5 million.

The site is earmarked for a residential development that "could potentially rise 12 stories" — particularly with "the creation or preservation of affordable housing."

Well, all that will cost someone a little less... the price has been reduced by $4 million to $18.5 million...

    "Affordable housing." Didn't Bloomberg just attempt to deal with that issue with 275 square foot apartments?

    I can't wait to see some developer try to sell apartments located across the street from the projects.

    Avenue D haters, like clockwork. With all of the complaints about the neighborhood has went down the tubes, you'd think the Ave would get some love. Cheap rent, cheap groceries, no starbucks/subway/chase, no drunk college kids, etc.

    @Anonymous 1:25 PM: OK, I'll bite. Where are the "cheap rents" (got some "fer instances"?) and where are the "cheap groceries"?

    Starbucks and Chase will follow as soon as they fill the snazzy new apartments of course.
