An EVG reader shared this photo ... She spoke to the woman who had the dog stolen Friday night on Seventh Avenue and West 19th Street...
"She tied him briefly and turned to tie her shoelace when some guy ran by, grabbed the dog, and took off. Distinguishing features are that he has an umbilical hernia (can be felt on his belly) and is missing a tooth in the front of his lower jaw. Needless to say, she's miserable about losing him."
Hope the little guy gets returned, although the story sounds a little strange- People don't usually tie their dog to something in order to tie their shoes.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 5:27: I'm the "photographer" who sent in the photo of the flyer. I heard the story secondhand but saw the woman whose dog it is. She has arthritis and said that she ran after the guy trying to catch him but couldn't keep up with him. Based on her emotional discussion with the person who filled me in on what happened, I trust the story. I think she probably couldn't balance well enough to tie her shoelace and hold onto the leash at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHe is a remarkably cute little dog though, with an almost cartoonlike expression.
There is a special place in hell for people who steal other peoples' puppies...
ReplyDeleteGood luck MAria. Im sending your puppy strong vibes to sneak away for someone to see him and call you. If all of us focus on that it may just happen. Meditate and focus. Call for your puppy. <3
ReplyDelete@10:25 Oh wow that's awful- I just couldn't believe that someone would grab a dog from its owners presence and run off- that is just mean.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 10:19: That's really curious - I looked up the NY Post article and indeed it says she was looking in the Container Store but the weird thing is that they close at 9pm yet the poster shows 10pm-10:45pm (presumably the time of the incident) and the store is on 6th Avenue not 7th Avenue.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I hope the two get back together and I'm sure she'll be more careful in the future if they do.
