When the Circus (Amok) came to town
Circus Amok is, according to their website, "a New York City based circus-theater company whose mission is to provide free public art addressing contemporary issues of social justice to the people of New York City."
And they brought their show to Tompkins Square Park this afternoon...

ReplyDeleteThis circus was great. Came toward the end but enjoyed myself immensely.

Jennifer Miller is awesome. Somewhere, I've got a pic of their stage sets featuring "Ghouliani" from years ago, which still cracks me up. This is one of the best shows in town.
ReplyDeletewasn't there, what did they have to say? do any of the performers live here? i remember seeing the woman in the last shot from years ago. what did they have to say and did Tower Brokerage sponsor this one too?
ReplyDeleteEgads! There are people who doubt the veracity of the Amokians!
ReplyDeleteJennifer and her circus have been around for several many years. They are silly and dead serious and circus artists to boot. Been enjoying this particular configuraton since my child was a babe in arms (he's 20 now).
They are a real deal and I'm glad my Sunday wanderings let me catch the end of their show - always a goodgood time.
Oomp-pah-pah gypsy music rocks!
