Con Ed robo calls coming in

More than a dozen people have reported receiving robo calls from Con Ed saying that the power might be preemptively shut down. Residents have reported the calls in all parts of the East Village as well as in the Lower East Side and Nolita.

  11. Gothamist comment:

"The most likely shut-off would include two sets of power networks that span the southeast tip of Lower Manhattan, all the way from Frankfort Street in the north down to South Street on the south, and east of Williams Street to the river north of Wall Street, and East of Broadway to the river south of Wall Street."

People are getting calls all over the place - maybe the Con Ed robocall contractors don't have good cross-references with addresses.

  21. I'm on 4th and A and haven't gotten the call, but I'm assuming that if someone from 6th and A is getting shut down, we are, too. Anyone know the grid they're using?

  22. @anon4:03 - The internet will still work, but you won't be able to access it given your modem requires electricity to pass the 0's and 1's to your computers.
