Second Avenue Subway now a Good Guys Burger

Yesterday, workers quickly dismantled the Subway on Second Avenue at East Ninth Street... and a reader noted that they worked into the night to unveil....

... that this space is becoming a Good Guys location...

Are the Good Guys related to the Five Guys?

  1. They may or may not be related but what they ARE is sexist, obviously.

  2. @Pinch: I guess I'm missing something, why are they sexist? I'm guessing this place is locally owned and not a chain, which I would think is a good thing. Better than Subway for sure!

  3. I smell burger-brawl, Paul's Vs. Good Guys. My money is on Paul, been around since way before hamburgers were trendy.

  4. I'll stick with the burgers at Stage, Simple, classic, delicious. But Paul's comes in at #2.

  5. I don't really care whether it's a chain or not - it's better than a Subway - and I'm glad for another 24hr food choice in the area.

  6. Just bring back Burritoville already...

  7. Is Good Guys to Five Guys like Kennedy Fried Chicken (also in the EV) is to Kentucky Fried Chicken?

  8. Thank goodness! Anything but Subway (which is from Satan).

  9. Maybe we can get A Salt and Battery back! Not exactly sexist, but certainly inflammatory!

  10. My "sexist" comment could not have been more sarcastic. It was a joke.

  11. So this is what happens when Good Burger and Five Guys gets it on and has a baby.

  12. @Pinch: Sorry, sometimes it's hard to read sarcasm online, but I got it now!

  13. There is a Burritoville risen from the dead on 23rd between 7th and 8th. The menu is somewhat the same. I had a Holy Mole and it was about 85% as good as I remembered. No free chips and salsa though :(

  14. The signage kinda makes me think the owners of The 13th Step are involved. Now we have dueling blight at 2nd Ave and East 9th giving drunk Bridge/Tunnelers something new to barf up after failing the 12 steps.

  15. The butcher next door needs custiomers. Last Eastern European butcher in the neighborhood, GREAT kielbasa, bigos, fresh sauerkraut from the barrel in the back, etc- so I am delighted to see the Subway leave.

  18. Mark Burger gets my best burger vote, even though they're sliders. The fries are incredible, and they have great beer on tap.
