[Updated] A Newtown memorial on East Ninth Street

EVG regular William Klayer spotted this teddy bear memorial on East Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue... there isn't a note or card noting who this might be for ...

Updated 12/19
We did receive confirmation that this memorial is to honor those who died in Newtown. The resident has a daughter near the same age as the school-age victims.

  1. I can see the tree sign already:

"DEAR TEDDY BEAR SHRINE PERSON: THIS IS A TREE NOT A CEMETARY DO NOT PUT TEDDY BEARS OR CANDLES ON OUR TREES"

  4. The first thing I thought was a tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. I know people were putting teddy bears and other items out up there.

  5. I applaude the sentiment, but I live for the day that folks realize how tawdry and sad stuffed animals look after a day or two outside.
