7B in the movies
[Paul Newman in The Verdict]
A reader shared this video... a fan of 7B/Vazac's posted the clip on Vimeo last December... a montage showing the various TV shows/movies filmed at the bar on Avenue B and East Seventh Street through the years...
... it includes classics such as "The Godfather Part II" ... "The Verdict" ... "Serpico" ... and some crap like "What Happens In Vegas" ... regardless, a perennial shoo-in for Best Supporting Bar.

It's those square windows, you just can't beat them!
ReplyDeleteOf course, by "square windows" I mean the small panes.
ReplyDeleteAgree about the windows; there is an odd, shimmery quality about the light, especially on cloudy days. The old Teresa's had it, too.
ReplyDeleteI loathe this place because the film shoots here require that three blocks be taken up by trucks working for the crew. I hope it gets shut down, but not keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteBill the libertarian anarchist
I think it's time for your move to the 'burbs, Bill.
DeleteThis is great! Most I knew, but some I never realized were filmed there. Excellent compilation!
ReplyDeleteReal cool Bill.
ReplyDeleteBest bar in town.
ReplyDeleteFigures a 'libertarian' has to be miserable about it.
Wasn't "Rent" (2005) filmed there as a proxy for Life Cafe?
ReplyDeleteRent only shot the outside.
ReplyDeleteHorseshoe Bar was also featured in Angel Heart.
ReplyDeleteAnd its windows during the holidays is merry.

ReplyDelete[meant to say make looking at its windows makes one merry.]
better make an appointment with Elissa Jiji.
Carry on.
Doesn't really matter, but wasn't "The Verdict" set in Boston?
ReplyDeleteTons of early Law & Order (early, mid 90's) are shot there too.
ReplyDeletewhat's the name of the movie with the transgendered individual?
ReplyDelete@1020
ReplyDeleteCome on, thats Crocodile Dundee Mate!
I remember when this place was made up to be Life Cafe, a few short blocks away from Life Cafe!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I believe the bar scenes in Urbania (2000) were also shot there.
ReplyDeleteIn my grimey days (90s), We would pop in to meet my "guy" and then get high in the bathroom. Now I see it in all these movies... It was always a favorite!
ReplyDeleteAlways had great rarities on the Juke Box.
