Nino's is back open on Avenue A
[Bobby Williams]
Nino's — the real Nino's — is back open as of today on Avenue A and St. Mark's Place...Nino Camaj has reopened the pizzeria that he previously sold...
... the pizza was just as good as we remembered it... though the interior still needs to be warmed up a bit. Plenty of time for that.
No sign of a soda fountain machine just yet, though they do sell Italian ices...
Previously on EV Grieve:
New Nino's will be the old Nino's

Was walking home... WTF... What's with the bright lights...
ReplyDeleteI seriously wanted pizza... But not till those lights are the fuck dimmed down...
I miss the red shirts and the warmer atmosphere but the pizza is def spot on. Welcome back nino
ReplyDeleteMeatball hero her I come!
ReplyDeleteCan we undo Flea Market while we're at it?
ReplyDeleteAyo dim down those mothafuckin lights. That shit is annoying!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me very happy.
ReplyDeleteYes, please, UNDO Flea Market.
ReplyDeleteThis new one is not even a shell of its former self. None of the warm and welcoming atmosphere is there anymore. Very rude bartendress who won't give you an eye contact and when you say thank you, doesn't even acknowledged that, unless you're some cool hipster rocker; she was making googly eyes to this guy while she ignored everyone else and gave you an attitude when trying to order as if you're interfering with her googly-eye-ing this hipster rocker dude. Staff that ignores you when you walk-in while they continue they're chit-chatting at the end of the bar. Supercilious and pretentious staff, they're like flight attendants who constantly gives you smiles while they're seething inside. I believe the new owners only took over Flea Market for its full liquor license, and pretend they'll still operate it as a Flea Market while all the while thye're just letting the place die, hence the surly attitudes of the staff , esp. the bartendress, and convert this into another luxe lounge catering only to the moneyed tourists and transients. Goodbye Flea Market. Hello, Meat Market -- a Stefon loungy Bar named Flush. End Sunday rant.
@Stefon Sorry to hear it's that bad! The staff at the old Flea Market were always so friendly. Francis was the best. He always had my drink at the table before I even ordered it, the cutie. The food was consistent. The service was good. I hate when people fix things that aren't broken.
ReplyDelete...we were fond of the "old" FM; heard from friends that the "new" FM isn't quite the same, but they didn't have the pretentious service problem described here. I'll miss their 1/2/3 model for prix fixe, that is for sure. Always had a great meal there.
ReplyDeleteFlea market was always bad. I stopped going here years ago after to many bad service experiences...
ReplyDeleteWho cares about FM, this post is about Nino's. Welcome back, Nino's! I was so glad to walk by Saturday and see you open.
ReplyDeleteThe food is exactly how I remembered it! BEST PIZZA IN NYC, period.
ReplyDeleteNino's on St. Marks and Ave A is amazing. I used to go there with friends all the time and was upset when it was sold a number of years ago. Now that Nino Camaj is back, the pizza is spot on.
