Several tipsters have pointed out that Affaire recently closed on Avenue B... Calls to the restaurant go unanswered — the number is no longer in service. However, an employee confirmed the closure to a reader, noting that management was not sure if they would reopen a new concept in the space.
Most recently the French bistro and lounge had only been open on Friday and Saturday... and they had curtailed food service for the summer...
Affaire took over the China 1 space in December 2010.
Affaire sucked, I lived on that block, and the crowd outside was as bad as any other bar you can come up with.
ReplyDeleteWasn't this the place that had a plate of fake, shellacked food on display on a table outside the restaurant? Wherever it was, I was fascinated by that plate as unappealing as it was to display food that way.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss the 5 dollar pitchers of mimosas at their brunch. And that's all I guess.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those cursed spaces that never seems to be able to land a successful restaurant. B4, another cursed space, is also looking pretty anemic.

Funny how an eatery sucks because of the crowd that it brings outside and if it's in someone block. But praises an eatery, which brings the same douchebaggery but as long as it's outside of his block. Classic case of me, em, me, only about me and nimbyism.

Closing all week/ not cooking all summer is not a good business decision. You'd think the owners would go there and work the place themselves with their family/ friends just to keep it going.
