EV Grieve Eatery Etc.: A theater sign for Archie & Sons; Everyman Espresso returns
And here's the sign for Archie & Sons... a 1950s-style luncheonette opening very soon at 23 Third Ave. The original Archie's operated on Long Island for nearly two decades...
-----
And a new sign for the incoming Han Dynasty on Third Avenue near East 12th Street...

Everyman Espresson on East 13th Street closed for a "face lift" back in late June... it reopened yesterday ... in the lobby of the Classic Stage Company.

I like the A&s sign!
ReplyDeleteUh-huh, uh-huh, I like where Archie's is headed. (Hands folded) Please, please, please be a traditional diner and not a purple metalic balloon of jello shot hell!
ReplyDeleteMeh. Bring back St. Mark's Pizza.
ReplyDeleteI really, really hope Archie's is not some ersatz facsimile of a diner, a faux-nostalgia experience for people too young to remember the '80s let alone the '50s.
ReplyDeleteToo bad they have to endure an neighbor with a velvet rope and all-you-can-drink shots for $10.
Please be for real. No themes. No quail eggs and lentils du puy -- just regular eggs, a nice BLT, some meatloaf, etc. done well for regular working people.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but the problem is the word "eatery", pretentious and obnoxious.

Then again, it suffices, since the "eateries" that come and go and are popping-up in the neighborhood mostly cater to the "foodies", pretentious, and the upscale obnoxious transients.
I agree, St Marks Pizza was great, their broccoli slice was amazing, the ovens were so hot it came out seared on top, they did toppings just right. But it's a small space, so I wonder how they will squeeze in enough tables and have a big enough kitchen, we will see. Lets see how it stacks up when compared to Remedy Diner on Houston which is just ok, their pancake recipe is a little off but coffee is good, the Good Stuff Diner on West 14th, still has great food and some of the best staff in NY, and Big Daddy's on Park Ave. South, with their tasty tater tots, worlds slowest diner kitchen and usually too loud music blaring, but it has great shakes and faux nostalgia decor to stare at while you starve waiting for your food. And please stay awy from the Continental next door, that place has been nothing but trouble since they moved in, I've seen more than a few people in fights and getting arrested after disputes with the bartenders and bouncers there, not a friendly crowd.
ReplyDeleteNo biscuits!
ReplyDelete11:51, funny you should mention it. Empire Biscuits' Kickstarter campaign FAILED! Little surprise.
